The general education of the 40,000 young people living in the Département is provided by 55 colleges and 14 secondary schools in all. Technical training occupies a major place in  Vosges education, in view of the large scale of industrial activity in the Vosges. Twenty Occupational Training Colleges provide courses in numerous technical subjects : mechanics, technologies relating to wood-fumiture, paper-cardboard, textiles-clothing, electricity, electronics, maintenance and training in secretarial skills as well as sales and finance. There are also colleges such as: the Institute of Business Administration (IAE), colleges for training technicians and engineers for ESSTIB certification (Wood industry) to ESITE (Textile industry). In addition there are also polytechnic schools training in marketing methods and industrial maintenance, as well as the Ecole de l'Image (College of Fine Arts) and Nancy University annexes in St Dié and Epinal.
