The Vosges
department also hosts a number of secondary

and diversity.

One of the department's major, innovative
sectors is the plastics industry, which
uses some of the most advanced and
specialized manufacturing techniques.
This sector has, in the past ten years,
experienced a period of rapid growth, and
the Vosges' leading position in the
Lorraine region is evidence of this
success. Plastics processing and tool
manufacturing are two of the sector's
major activities. Both have the benefit
of direct access to qualified personnel,
trained in one of several schools located
in Lorraine (such as Thaon-les-Vosges)
and nearby analysis and research
laboratories. In addition, the plastics
center at Saint-Dié acts as an effective
intermediary between industry leaders and
subcontractors and is directly
responsible for the creation of several
thousand jobs. |
