Recent growth in the tourist industry has brought
about a rise in the number of available
recreational activities. The Vosges department is
continually making efforts to extend its already
impressive list of sports and leisure activities.
Year-round activities make it possible to
discover the Vosges from almost every angle. For
the energetic visitor, this natural haven is
accessible by foot, horseback, off-road bike,
boat, canoe, ultra-light hang-glider or by way
of the many downhill and cross country ski trails
(the area features 5 winter ski resorts with a
total of 86 ski lifts). Peaceful lakesides,
shaded terraces, cinemas, boutiques and parks
provide a more relaxing means of exploring the
area. In addition, the night brings with it an
exciting atmosphere, including casinos, shows,
concerts and nightclubs, and the list goes

The endless treasures found in the Vosges are but
one explanation for the increasing number of
tourists who choose to return here each year.
Abundant and quality reception facilities are yet
another important factor adding to the charm of
the department. The area's cottages (600
facilities), inns, bed and breakfasts, camp
grounds (with a total of 80 sites), farm inns and
traditional hotels (400 from which to choose)
offer possibilities to fit every budget and
taste. In addition, a large number of authentic
culinary delights await discovery, including
brimbelles, munster, fromage de chèvre, foie
gras, fumés, tourtes, tartes, quiches, miel de
fleurs and sapins, eaux de vie (mirabelle) and
mountain fruits. |
